Fire Incident at Dayah Abon Buni: A Narrow Escape from Disaster

Purwakarta Online - In a remote village of Tumpok Mesjid, Paya Bakong Subdistrict, North Aceh, a distressing fire broke out at Dayah Ashabul Yamin on Monday, March 18, 2024, around 10:00 AM local time.

The blaze engulfed five student dormitories or barracks, resulting in extensive damage estimated at hundreds of million rupiahs. Fortunately, there were no casualties reported in this incident.

Authorities suspect the cause of the fire to be a short circuit in the electrical wiring, according to statements made by Kapolres Aceh Utara AKBP Deden Heksaputera, conveyed through Kapolsek Paya Bakong, Ipda Marzuki.

Dayah Ashabul Yamin, led by Tgk H Abu Bakar, commonly known as Abon Buni, faced this calamity, leaving the community in shock and disbelief.

The initial alert came from a diligent student who noticed the flames emerging from one of the dormitories.

This particular room was unoccupied as the student had returned to their hometown, adding a stroke of luck to the otherwise devastating situation, as Ipda Marzuki recounted.

Upon receiving the distress call, the authorities swiftly responded.

Polsek Paya Bakong was notified, subsequently reaching out to the local fire department for immediate assistance.

The combined efforts managed to contain the fire by approximately 11:00 AM local time, averting further destruction.

However, the preliminary investigation points towards an electrical malfunction as the likely cause of the conflagration, as highlighted by Ipda Marzuki.

The resilience and prompt action of the community and authorities prevented what could have been a tragic outcome.

The incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of fire safety measures, particularly in educational institutions and residential areas.
