The identity of the deceased, revealed to be Lilis Susilowati, an individual with special needs residing in RT 01/RW.02, Kelurahan Cangkrep Lor, Purworejo, sent shockwaves through the tight-knit community.
Promptly reported to the Village Government and subsequently to the authorities, the distressing incident drew attention from the local administration and emergency response teams.
Sutijoso Brahmanto, SH.MM, Head of Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Division at the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) Purworejo, shed light on the grim discovery, stating that the incident occurred around 9:00 AM local time.

"The sequence of events unfolded when eyewitness Imam Santoso (55) went to inspect the fishpond behind his residence. To his disbelief, he stumbled upon the lifeless body of the victim floating in the water," he recounted.
With swift coordination, the BPBD Purworejo's Trauma Recovery Center (TRC) team, aided by personnel from various emergency services including the local Red Cross (PMI), INAFIS (Police Forensic Unit), district military liaison (Babinsa), Purworejo Police, and concerned residents, initiated the evacuation process.
"Based on the preliminary site investigation, it is suspected that the victim intended to bathe in the pond, tragically resulting in her drowning. Clothing found at the pond's edge further supports this hypothesis," Brahmanto elaborated.
